The Home Depot Foundation to Help Re-Tree Miami
Miami
(July 18, 2007)- During the Tree Summit at Jungle Island, city leaders
discovered that Miami doesn't have many trees- all those buildings have
gotten in the way. "I was shocked to find our tree canopy is very, very
low," said City Commissioner Joe Sanchez, who wore a green-hued suit
and a grass-colored tie. During the half-day-long seminar, city leaders
extolled the virtues of a new "canopy analysis" that will map all of
the city's trees via GIS.
