    Trees Take on Greenhouse Gases at Super Bowl

    New York (January 30, 2007)- It's red mangrove trees versus greenhouse gases at the Super Bowl in Miami Sunday. The National Football League is hoping to tackle the game's heat-trapping gas emissions by planting 3,000 mangroves and other trees native to Florida.

    The Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, Bank of America's signature philanthropic program, focuses on developing relationships with and investing in strong nonprofits/charitable organizations with great leaders. The program offers leadership training and general operating support for growing nonprofits.

    New Publication Highlights Health Benefits of Parks

    Just published, The Health Benefits of Parks: How Parks Help Keep Americans and Their Communities Fit and Healthy draws from the latest research to outline the ways in which parks, open space, greenways, and trails support and promote healthy lifestyles, potentially decreasing health care costs.

    Nonprofit Earned Income Ventures Conference- April 17-19

    The annual conference of the Social Enterprise Alliance is a gathering of nonprofit organizations, foundation and corporate representatives, and management assistance providers committed to pursuing financial sustainability through "social enterprise" earned income ventures that advance charitable missions.


    Public Policy

    Administration Budget for FY 2008 Released- Urban and Community Forestry Cut by 38%

    Washington, DC (February 5, 2007)- The President's budget was released today. State and Private Forestry programs received an overall 11% reduction. Several cooperative forestry programs received sharper cuts, including Urban and Community Forestry, which received a 38% cut in the Administration's budget.

    Urban Forest Improvement Project

    (Norwalk, Connecticut) The Urban Forest Improvement Project represents the comprehensive coordination of multiple tree-related projects in the City of Norwalk and resulted in the establishment of a strong collaborative team that focuses on reforesting barren sections of the urban forest, improving maintenance and utility trimming efforts, educating citizens on the value of diverse green and open spaces, and beautifying the community.
