Durham, NH (February 24, 2008)- Last June, the University of New Hampshire
established the Recycled Materials Resource Management Center with the
goal of creating a green roads program that develops criteria for what
makes a roadway green. Kevin

engineering and director of the Environmental Research Group, said, "We
have a real opportunity to re-build the infrastructure the right way
with sustainable materials and socially sensitive designs that protect

Benefits and Risks of Urban Roadside Landscape
Seattle,
WA (June 25, 2007)- Placement of trees and landscape features within
the urban right-of-way is often perceived by transportation officials
as a safety risk. Conversely, there are many community benefits that
may result from having roadside landscape, and advocates of urban
forestry encourage roadside plantings. Within urban environments
transportation mobility and accessibility needs should be balanced with
urbanites' health and welfare.
