Building Capacity & Growing Sustainably with ACT
September 3, 2009
1:00- 2:00pm EST

Increasing capacity in order to serve members' needs remains central to the Alliance for Community Trees' mission. This plays an even larger role as our network continues to grow (ACT was 60 members four years ago, today it is over 150 members). As part of these efforts, ACT recently added a development professional to its staff and implemented a comprehensive fundraising program. Find out how ACT's fundraising program can benefit your organization and what you can do to help.

FUNDRAISING AT ACT
Megan Odett, Alliance for Community Trees
Because fundraising is typically only discussed at the Annual Meeting and only 48% of members attended at least one annual meeting between 2005 and 2007, many members may be unfamiliar with ACT fundraising picture and how they can help the coalition and the urban forestry field. This special members only webcast aims to reach both members already participating in ACT's fundraising program as well as members who have not recently attended an Annual Meeting.

MEMBER'S PERSPECTIVE
Marcia Bansley, Trees Atlanta
As a Past President and founding member of the Alliance for Community Trees, Marcia has a personal commitment to ACT's success. She is also the Executive Director of our local member, Trees Atlanta. In that role, she has shown that development partnerships are not necessarily an 'either or' of national versus local competing interests. Much the opposite, Marcia's efforts have opened doors to funding relationships with some of ACT's main corporate and nonprofit partnerships such as The Home Depot Foundation, UPS Foundation, and Primedia.
