Species Selection- Part I: Nursery Selection
July 15, 2010, 1-2pm EDT
Tree selection does not end with choosing the appropriate species or cultivar for the planting site. Suitable nursery stock must be chosen based on a number of considerations about planting site, aftercare, root characteristics, production method, and structure.
Trainers:
Greg Paige, Arboretum Curator, Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory Arboretum (Charlotte, NC)
Barrett Robinson, VP of Horticulture and Construction, New York Restoration Project (New York, NY)

Species Selection- Part II: Seasonal Landscaping
August 5, 2010, 1-2pm EDT

Trees in the landscape might be most famous for their fall foliage, but thoughtful planting can produce multiple seasons of interest. In addition to leaf color, other features like bark, limbs, fruit, flowers, scent, and overall form contribute to the visual appeal of trees.
Trainers:
Greg Paige, Arboretum Curator, Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory Arboretum (Charlotte, NC)
Edith Makra, Community Trees Advocate, The Morton Arboretum (Lisle, IL)
