Greener Safer Communities Act

The ACT-championed Greener Safer Communities Act is about healthy communities.
It would legislate that the Department of Justice administer an incentive program that states or municipalities could utilize to create safer communities through coordinated community policing and urban greening. The purpose of the legislation is to invest in lowering crime and calming traffic, since, as many of us know, trees correlate not only with less crime against both people and property, but also traffic calming along streets where kids play.

In coordination with Trees Virginia, we have reached out to a key member of the Judiciary Committee who has initially signaled an interest in introducing or at least supporting this initiative.

NEXT STEPS
Now your Representatives need to hear from you

Send a letter to your Representative asking for his/her support in getting this introduced. Include information about your organization and the community your reach to reinforce that you serve his/her constituents. Also copy your Senators, because they also like to hear what is of interest to their constituents. Notify ACT before sending these letters so that we can coordinate follow-up.
