AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE FOR COMMUNITY TREES
Deadline: December 14, 2007

The Home Depot Foundation and U.S. Conference of Mayors are teaming up for a third year to recognize and showcase cities with innovative public-private programs to promote urban forests. The award is a great way to invigorate top city leadership around the issue of urban forest protection in your city. The award recognizes mayors among their peers and encourages city leaders to set new standards for achieving urban forest growth. ACT member organizations are especially encouraged to apply for the Excellence award. From last year, 3 of the 4 winning cities partnered with ACT nonprofit groups. And, in 2005, 2 of the winners and 10 of the 16 finalists were working with ACT member groups, reflecting the strength of public-private partnerships among ACT organizations. The application format is similar to last year, so don't miss the opportunity to apply for this prestigious and generous award that will make your city proud.
