INVITE ELECTED OFFICIALS
Advance notice yields media results
Now is the time to invite your elected officials to attend your NeighborWoods Month events. October is campaign season, when officials and candidates alike are eager to participate in community events. Their presence at your plantings can draw major media coverage and public attention. Invite your senators (like Sen. Grassley, shown here at a Trees Forever event), representatives, governor, mayor, and council--and show them the direct impact of urban forestry projects.

SPOTLIGHT
Leveraging NeighborWoods Materials
Goleta Valley Beautiful in Goleta, CA, has registered multiple NeighborWoods Month events, including plantings and educational workshops. For their Science Night at Kellogg Elementary, they have ordered additional kids activity cards (beyond the 100 offered FREE)--and used their Mini-Grant to apply for 70 extra t-shirts. Plus they're displaying our animated web banner on their website. Now Goleta's October events will not only leverage the national campaign, but also capture a clear picture of volunteer service in action among a sea of NeighborWoods branding. Pretty smart!
