WEEK 4
Focus Events in Des Moines, Shreveport, and Tucson
NeighborWoods Month hits its stride with the busiest week of the campaign! This week, 50 organizations will sponsor 82 events in 49 cities around the country. Week Four of NeighborWoods Month is headlined by three events:

* North High School Tree Plantings with Trees Forever, 10/22 and 10/23, Des Moines, Iowa. This is phase III of a large campus revitilization project, which will include street trees and trees on the school's campus, which was flooded in the June 2008 rainstorm.

* South Highlands Neighborhood Plantings with Shreveport Green, 10/25, Shreveport, Louisiana. This massive effort to plant 100 trees in one neighborhood will make an immediate impact with the help of 200 volunteers.

* NeighborWoods-Make a Differen Day with Trees for Tucson, 10/25, Tucson, Arizona. This volunteer event is a long-standing partnership with Tucson Electric Power to plant trees, clean-up parks, and recycle.

These events are just three of 400 events this month. Register your event today or volunteer with one near you... there is at least one event every day!

Send us your inspiring, surprising, or amusing photos and we'll feature your images at the ACT Annual Meeting and Member Rally on Nov. 17 in Atlanta. VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

ACT is pleased to announce it is accepting nominations for Volunteer of the Year. This is an opportunity for ACT members to share inspirational accounts of volunteers in action and have them gain national recognition for their local contributions! This award is open to any individual (board member, community organizer, pro bono consultant, etc.) whose volunteer efforts have made a contribution to urban forestry by improving community trees and the neighborhoods which they are in.
