WEEK 1
Philadelphia Kicks off NeighborWoods Month!
It’s NeighborWoods Month! The national campaign officially kicks off this Wednesday. By October 5, already 34 organizations will have organized 86 events in 40 cities around the country. Week One is headlined by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Fall for Your Park event, at which 300 to 400 volunteers will participate in a large scale workday at one Philadelphia park. The day will include tree and bulb plantings, mural painting, woodland restoration, graffiti removal, and trash clean-up. Councilwoman Marion Tasco, Mayor Michael Nutter (invited), State Senator Shirley Kitchen, and Congressman Dwight Evans are among just a few of the leaders from Philadelphia and around the country who will participate in NeighborWoods Month 2008!
