Urban and Community Forestry Funding in the United States
(Davis, CA)- Based on survey data from all fifty states, California ReLeaf identified and explored potential stable funding sources for urban and community forestry. Funding sources explored include a trust fund to accept private donations, sales and property taxes, carbon sequestration credits, income tax donations, and utility partnerships. One common theme was an emphasis on increased partnerships.

LOCAL STORY
Portland neighborhoods write the book on sustainability
(Portland, OR)- Sustainability begins at home, or at least in the neighborhood. A coalition of 20 neighborhood associations in southeast Portland has teamed up with Portland State University students to produce a Neighborhood Climate Action Planning Handbook. The document, filled with block-level examples, is intended to be a resource for neighborhood groups interested in reducing their carbon footprint.
