NATIONAL NEWS
Volunteers helping to Re-green Lake Co. preserves
(Chicago, IL)- On many weekends over the past 25 years, Tom Smith has led volunteers in never ending efforts to improve the forest preserves in Lake County. In one sense, October is no different, with a series of workdays scheduled in various locations. But in the bigger picture, Lake County's efforts are among hundreds of "re-greening" activities throughout the U.S. in October as part of National NeighborWoods Month, promoted by the nonprofit Alliance for Community Trees.

LOCAL STORY
FedEx Joins Tree Canada to Promote Environmental Sustainability
(Lumsden, Saskatchewan)- On September 26, Federal Express Canada in support of Tree Canada and with the help of FedEx volunteers and students and staff at Lumsden Elementary School rejuvenated the school's grounds by adding a variety of trees and shrubs. This greening project is one of 15 that FedEx is supporting in communities across the country in 2009.
