London To Plant 2 Million Trees By 2025 Under Green Plan
(London)- In an effort to fend off a projected temperature rise in London in the next several decades, the mayor of London's environment advisor announced a plan to increase the amount of tree. A recent study by The UK Climate Impacts Programme concluded that increasing the amount of plants and trees could offset rising temperatures. The planting of two million new trees in the city amounts to an increase of five percent of the city's tree population.

LOCAL STORY
Businesses raise money for new trees
(Galveston, TX)- A group of downtown business owners is hosted a street party to raise money to buy trees for the island's replanting efforts. The free event, featuring live music and food, was part of the citywide Hurricane Ike remembrance activities. The storm killed an estimated 30,000 trees, denuding much of the island's core urban area of its 100-year-old leafy canopy. The city's tree committee is working on replanting efforts, which will start in November.
