NATIONAL NEWS
NeighborWoods Month Kicks off in Iowa
(Cedar Rapids, IA)- Volunteers are needed on Saturday, October 3rd, to help twenty new Habitat for Humanity homeowners and their families plant trees in their yards and neighborhoods. Many of the Habitat homeowners receiving trees lost their homes in the devastating 2008 floods and are attempting to start over. The new trees will help reduce home energy costs, improve air quality, increase property values, and provide a renewed sense of community in these beautified neighborhoods.

LOCAL STORY
Tulsa Mayor Encourages Residents to Replant Trees
(Tulsa, OK)- Beautiful trees enhance Tulsa's reputation as one of American's most beautiful cities. An important project for Tulsa that we can work together on, even after my term as mayor expires, is replanting the 20,000 trees lost in the December 2007 ice storm. You can help our regreen efforts by partnering with our partner, Up With Trees and sponsor a tree or a tree grove for our community or in honor of someone special.
