National Tree Care Standards Under Review
You
are invited to submit comments on revisions of the ANSI A300 national
tree care standards. Public review for Part 6 "Planting and
Transplanting" and Part 7 "Integrated Vegetation Management" began
earlier this month and extends through February 2012. ACTrees is a
member of the ANSI-accredited A300 committee, with a sitting member
representing the national ACTrees network as the committee writes,
revises, and reviews national tree standards.

LOCAL STORY
The Problem with Palm Trees
(Miami,
FL)- While palm trees are aesthetic superstars, a number of cities have
started to recognize that the environmental issues fronds wreak can't
justify the eye candy. Palm-worshipping cities like Los Angeles and
Miami are planting trees other than palms in their bids to add shade
and carbon-trapping to their tree cover. But as some urban foresters
have seen, the public isn't always on board.

PA)- This position oversees the tri-state million tree-planting
initiative launched in spring 2011. Manages partnerships, leads program
development, operations, marketing, PR, and fundraising teams to
promote Plant One Million citizen engagement in the Greater
Philadelphia region.
