(San Francisco, CA)- Ranking systems for measuring "green" cities are multiplying.
The Trust for Public Land recently launched ParkScore, a rating system
to measure how the 40 largest US cities are meeting the need for
urban parks. Other organizations have created Tree Report Cards and
"Green City Index" measures. With more ways to rank and rate
metropolitan "green-ness," how do you assess your city?

Minnesota Tests Creative Tactics on Tree-killing Beetles
(Twin
Cities, MN)- As public officials in Minnesota enter their fourth
summer battling the invasive Emerald Ash Borer that threatens the
state's nearly one billion ash trees, they're employing a creative and
experimental array of strategies to identify and kill them before they
become established. From sticky traps and decoy cadavers to trained
dogs and stingless wasps, the state is deploying "everything we can
think of."
