2010 NeighborWoods Month Photo Contest Winners Announced
College Park, MD (December 1, 2010)- Congratulations to Tree Pittsburgh of Pittsburgh, PA, for their winning NeighborWoods Month photo! Their photograph best captured the spirit of volunteerism that thrives in NeighborWoods programs across the nation. The photograph’s vivid evocation of energy in action for a greener community delighted all of the judges.

1st Place:
This picture was snapped by Joey Kennedy at Tree Pittsburgh‘s October 12 tree planting, one of their eight NeighborWoods Month events. 60 volunteers including Team Depot associates from The Home Depot helped plant 30 trees on Bedford Ave. and Memory Ln. to kick off Tree Pittsburgh’s tree planting season!

2nd Place:
Families from the Needmore Community in Greer joined volunteers from across the county at Trees Greenville‘s NeighborWoods tree planting on October 22. County Councilman Joseph Baldwin read a proclamation before everyone picked up shovels to plant 36 trees in yards around the neighborhood.

3rd Place:
Trees New York engaged 290 elementary school students to plant trees in their schoolyards during NeighborWoods Month. Here, two fledgling forest stewards water one of 10 newly-planted schoolyard trees.
