Castle Heights Citizen Forestry Planting Part of NeighborWoods Month Celebrations

Cultivate Diversity: Mix It Up for Healthy NeighborWoods
It’s the third event for this neighborhood and they are looking to further improve their west side community by re-foresting several streets, one about every 6 months. On this day, we will be planting along a hillside section of a busy street. Join us and be a part of this wonderful community event. Citizen Forester George Reis will lead his neighbors to plant approximately two dozen trees in their Castle Heights neighborhood. Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toe shoes. Don’t forget a water bottle, sunhat, sunscreen and your positive energy!

Date: October 18, 2008
Time: 9:00 a.m.
Location: Castle Heights Ave and Cattaraugus, West Los Angeles 90034. From the 10 Freeway West, take the National exit north. Turn left onto Castle Heights; meet at intersection of Cattaraugus Ave. Follow the TreePeople signs.
Purpose: To celebrate the benefits of trees in the places people live. During National NeighborWoods Month, we want to share the message that planting and caring for trees adds value to our communities. Trees are not just a local concern but a national one as well. Your participation in National NeighborWoods Month not only enhances your community’s health, but also furthers our collective efforts to ensure that everyone gets to live in neighborhoods with trees.
Note: National NeighborWoods Month is part of the National NeighborWoods program, an initiative to re-green North American cities from coast to coast. The National NeighborWoods initiative is a program of the national Alliance for Community Trees in partnership with The Home Depot Foundation.
