Birmingham, MI (June 8, 2010)- The Erb Family Foundation has awarded nineteen grants totaling $1.23 million for environmental and arts/cultural initiatives in the metropolitan Detroit region, Crain’s Detroit Business reports. Among the grants is $160,000 to Greening of Detroit for a pilot project to plant urban forests as a way to mitigate storm water runoff.
In addition, the foundation awarded grants totaling $205,000 to the Science & Environmental Health Network, the WARM Training Center, the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, and the East Michigan Environmental Action Council for activities that promote environmental health and justice.
