New ACT Member- Keep Denton Beautiful

Denton, TX (November 16, 2009)- Keep Denton Beautiful is a community-based volunteer organization whose mission is to inspire individuals to take greater responsibility for creating a clean and beautiful city through litter prevention, reduction of waste, and community beautification.

Keep Denton Beautiful is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that focuses on:
* Litter reduction strategies,
* Beautification and community improvement activities, and
* Reduce, Reuse, Recycle practices.
Programs include:
* Neighborwoods Program
Each fall, Keep Denton Beautiful selects neighborhoods, schools, or places of worship that are in need of publicly-viewed trees to participate in the Neighborwoods Tree Planting Program. The Neighborwoods Tree Planting Program aims to have a concentrated impact on the urban forest in Denton’s neighborhoods.
* Re-tree Denton
The Tree Conservation Fund was established to give the citizens of Denton the opportunity to directly finance reforestation efforts in the community. In the fall of 1998, the Public Utilities Board approved this voluntary-participation program and placed it on the City of Denton’s monthly utility bill. The funds for the Tree Conservation Fund Program are to be used for public land reforestation efforts in the City of Denton. This would include community education regarding the proper planting, care and maintenance of trees; street tree plantings within city right-of-way; and could include funding for the start-up of a permanent city tree nursery.
