New ACT Member- Urban Ecology Institute

Chestnut Hill, MA (April 26, 2006)- For nearly ten years, the Urban Ecology Institute and its community and educational partners have been improving the health of urban ecosystems through environmental education, action, and advocacy programs. Their mission is to help urban communities build healthy, vibrant cities by educating residents about their environment, connecting them to each other, and engaging them in the transformation of their neighborhoods into places where people love to live.

At the community level, the Urban Ecology Institute’s goal is to support the creation of urban neighborhoods that are physically healthy environments, with a minimal number of brownfields and other abandoned land sites and an equitable distribution of safe recreational spaces. UEI envisions cities of the future with healthy and robust natural environments.
