New Orleans (December 18, 2006)- There was a team effort to launch a replanting project this morning in Gentilly. The city department of parks and parkways joined forces with Parkway Partners”. The director of parks and parkways says the city lost more than 50-thousand trees due to Katrina.
Now with the new partnership the city hopes to “releaf” New Orleans. “I hope that the residents of this area will take this corridor planting as an incentive to plant in their own backyards,” said Tom Campbell with the Urban Forestry Program.
So far over one thousand trees have been planted across the city with the help of professional landscapers and community volunteers.
