Saturday @ The Park Part of NeighborWoods Month Celebrations

Cultivate Diversity: Mix It Up for Healthy NeighborWoods
Saturday @ The Park is a daylong celebration of Denver’s green infrastructure and community investment. It will include the planting of 62 trees to enhance the City Park Arboretum, the building of a 3.1 mile crusher fine trail and a wellness fair. City Park is one Denver’s premier historic park. The tract of land that makes up City Park is also home to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and the Denver Zoo. Residents who live around the park come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Saturday @ The Park is a way to bring Denver residents together to work to improve, beautify and green a gem in the Denver park system. In the early 1880s, the City of Denver designated a number of urban acres to be utilized for park land. City Park was the largest of these tracts designated for park land. Saturday @ the Park provides Denver residents with an opportunity to give back to a park that has contributed to quality of life for many an urban dweller. Denver city councilmembers and Mayor John Hickenlooper will be invited to attend the event.

Purpose: To celebrate the benefits of trees in the places people live. During National NeighborWoods Month, we want to share the message that planting and caring for trees adds value to our communities. Trees are not just a local concern but a national one as well. Your participation in National NeighborWoods Month not only enhances your community’s health, but also furthers our collective efforts to ensure that everyone gets to live in neighborhoods with trees.
Note: National NeighborWoods Month is part of the National NeighborWoods program, an initiative to re-green North American cities from coast to coast. The National NeighborWoods initiative is a program of the national Alliance for Community Trees in partnership with The Home Depot Foundation.
