ACT Announces Grants to Member Organizations

$300,000 Awarded Thanks to Partnership with The Home Depot Foundation
Washington, DC (November 11, 2005) – The Alliance for Community Trees (ACT) is awarding $300,000 in direct grants to 15 nonprofit organizations around the country. Funding for the grants came from ACT’s partner in its National NeighborWoods initiative, The Home Depot Foundation. The awards will be made at ACT’s annual meeting November 16, just prior to the 2005 National Conference on Urban Ecosystems, also sponsored by The Home Depot Foundation and held in the Westin Charlotte Hotel November 17-18.

“The work that will be done as a result of these grants demonstrates the high degree of interest and enthusiasm grassroots organizations are generating for tree planting, restoration and care,” said Alice Ewen Walker, executive director of ACT.
