ACT sponsors regional Community Tree Leadership Forum Workshops

College Park, MD (August 23, 2010)- This fall, nonprofit leaders across the country will attend regional fundraising and marketing training workshops sponsored by the Alliance for Community Trees.  With sessions from September through October 2010 in North Carolina, California, and Tennessee, the Community Tree Leadership Forum is designed to build the capacity of nonprofit tree advocates through hands-on activities.


2010 Community Tree Leadership Forum Workshops
September 14: Acorns to Mighty Oaks, Growing a Healthy Urban Forest (Raleigh, NC)
October 6-7: Vision for the Future Urban Forestry Conference (Temecula, CA)
November 18: Trails: The Green Way for America (Chattanooga, TN)

In partnership with the National Arbor Day Foundation and the USDA Forest Service, the Alliance for Community Trees developed this training program focused on the needs of nonprofits, service groups, volunteer coordinators, and community organizers engaged in urban and community forestry. The training is designed to increase the impact of nonprofit and community organizations working on urban forest issues by providing training to strengthen management and leadership skills.

    * Program Models for Community Groups
    * Partnerships & Collaboration
    * Public Policy & Advocacy

This program is targeted towards executives, staff, and board members of community organizations engaged in urban forestry activities, and we see it as being of value to state and federal urban and community forestry coordinators and state and federal volunteer coordinators among others.
