Washington, DC (October 1, 2013) – ACTrees is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Kucerak as its new Director of Development. With direct responsibility for achieving the organization’s development goals, Michelle will direct corporate, foundation, and government fundraising and development strategies for the organization. In this role, Michelle will provide organizational leadership, and work closely with the Executive Director, staff, Board of Directors, ACTrees member organizations, and external stakeholders.
Michelle has 20 years of nonprofit experience with 15 years in a fundraising leadership role. During this time, she has generated over $20 million from annual fund contributors, major donors, and foundation/government grants, and managed over $20 million of support from corporate partners.
Michelle grew up on a small farm in upstate New York near the Adirondack Mountains. She attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and graduated with a B.S. in Management. It was an internship with a statewide environmental group during her senior year that launched her interest in nonprofit work.
After college, Michelle worked with the New Jersey Public Interest Research Group (NJPIRG) at Rutgers University as a campus organizer and later directed Free The Planet!, a national network of student environmental groups. Michelle has worked in the international field as Director of Development and Administration for Refugees International and also at the local level, most recently, as Director of Development for TROSA, an innovative substance abuse treatment program in NC.
Michelle loves to run, bike, garden and cook delicious vegan meals. She lives in MD with her partner, 12 year-old son, and a menagerie of pets.
