ACTrees Joins America’s Voice for Conservation, Recreation and Preservation Letter

College Park, MD (April 10, 2012)- Alliance for Community Trees today signed on to national letter urging Congress to preserve deserved funding for conservation, recreation and preservation. America’s Voice for Conservation, Recreation and Preservation (AVCRP) is a diverse group of over 1,000 organizations united by the common goal of securing continued Congressional funding for conservation, outdoor recreation, and historic preservation programs.

AVCRP formed last summer in response to unprecedented attempts to slash funding for these economically vital programs. AVCRP was very well received on Capitol Hill, and we were successful in protecting funding levels for conservation, outdoor recreation and historic preservation programs in an environment in which everyone was facing tough cuts.

This year we are again facing a tough appropriations season. As such we are working hard to expand the coalition. ACTrees invites its partners and member organizations to sign on to this letter.

The letter, as well as the full list of signatories can be found here. If you would like to sign the letter you can go to www.avcrp.org and simply enter your email in the ‘Sign Our Letter to Congress’ box on the right. When you click ‘go’ it will ask you to verify your email and enter your name and the name of your organization and you will be on the letter.

If you have any questions please contact the AVCRP Staff Co-Chairs: Alan Rowsome: alan_rowsome@tws.org or Vaughn Collins: vcollins@trcp.org.
