Greater Park Hill NeighborWoods Planting

Cultivate Diversity: Mix It Up for Healthy NeighborWoods
The Greater Park Hill planting will include a week of smaller neighborhood street tree plantings with the larger North Monaco Parkway and Martin Luther King Boulevard plantings occurring on Saturday, October 25th. Tree by Tree- The Mile High Million, Denver Parks & Recreation and the Park People’s Denver Digs Trees program are partnering to plant 400 to 500 trees along targeted streets throughout the Greater Park Hill area. City Council members Carla Madison, Michael Hancock and Marcia Johnson have been invited to attend the events. Volunteer opportunities exist for individuals and large groups (ages 9 and up) during the week and on Saturday. This tree planting event was initiated by a group of Park Hill citizens concerned with the lack of shade on their street. New trees will help future generations enjoy the benefits of energy savings from shading, increased property values and cleaner air.

Purpose: To celebrate the benefits of trees in the places people live. During National NeighborWoods Month, the partner organizations want to share the message that planting and caring for trees adds value to our communities. Your participation in National NeighborWoods Month not only enhances your community’s health, but also furthers our collective efforts to ensure that everyone gets to live in neighborhoods with trees.
Note: National NeighborWoods Month is part of the National NeighborWoods program, an initiative to re-green North American cities from coast to coast. The National NeighborWoods initiative is a program of the national Alliance for Community Trees in partnership with The Home Depot Foundation.
