Home Depot Building Green Building

Atlanta, GA (December 20, 2007)- Home Depot is building a new 141,000-sq. ft. store in Austin, Tx., that will incorporate green design and construction. To procure the site, a mixed-use development that replaces an old airport, The Home Depot had to agree to sustainable practices certified by Austin’s green building program. Local construction materials will be used and more than 50% of the construction waste will be recycled. Energy-efficient heating, lighting, and air-conditioning systems will be included, and there will be one tree for every four parking spaces.
