Haymarket, VA (March 17, 2009)- is a chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture, a worldwide organization with more than 20,000 members. This chapter serves Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC. They have a wide variety of publications that establish standards for tree care. They have also developed guides specifically for the Mid-Atlantic States providing a baseline for rating species in large and small tree appraisals.
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture particularly focuses on fostering research and education that promotes the care and benefits of trees. They offer several programs for arborists in the community. Their certification program is a voluntary effort among professionals in the tree care industry to establish a meaningful standard of quality in arboricultural work, promote and encourage continuing education, and provide the public with a mechanism for identifying qualified arborists.
For homeowners and property owners, they provide helpful tips for how to plant and care for trees. They also provide lists of certified arborists in your area if you wish to consult with one.
