Iva, SC (September 24, 2004)- The South Carolina Urban and Community Forestry Council is a nonprofit organization created to provide a forum for the stewardship of South Carolina’s urban and community forests. These forests include all the trees in your community – tree lined roads, recreation areas and parks, neighborhoods, and commercial and private building sites. Taking care of the trees in these areas benefits the environmental, social and economic well being of your community.

Their annual activities include:
* Annual Conference on Urban & Community Forestry Issues.
* Golden Acorn Awards for outstanding contributions in urban forestry.
* South Carolina’s Heritage Trees Program recognizing important trees in South Carolina.
* The Acorn, a quarterly newsletter for members and decision makers.
