Washington, DC (April 16, 2012)- The U.S. Forest Service is seeking nominations to fill four of fifteen positions on the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council. The Council serves in an advisory capacity of the Secretary of Agriculture and the Forest Service’s Urban and Community Forestry Program and related natural resources.
NUCFAC requests nonimations for the following four positions that will serve a 3-year term until December 31, 2015. In addition to the specific position descriptions, the Council is also required to maintain its national representation in which an emphasis will be placed on those nominees from geographical areas that have low representation on the Council. Positions will also reflect the demographics that this area represents:
1. One of two members representation a national non-profit forestry and/or conservation citizen organization;
2. A member representing city/town government;
3. A member representaing academic institutions with an expertise in urban and community forestry activities;
4. A member representing Populations less than 50,000 and has experience and has been active in urban and community forestry. The nominee may not be an officer or employee of any government body.
