Kids and Community Trees

A growing body of research shows that children who are regularly exposed to nature have a better chance at living healthy and successful lives. ACTrees is working with our partners and member organizations to encourage and foster children’s natural curiosity about trees and the environment.

ACTrees Resources:

For tree activities at home or in the classroom, download ACTrees Tree Fun for Kids activity cards.  Just print them out and cut them in quarters for 4 fun cards for kids (and parents)! To see ACTrees list of children's books, go to our Tree Library.

And here’s ACTrees September 2013 webcast, “Educating Tomorrow's Environmental Stewards,” featuring trainers Judith Blau, Director, Treetures Environmental Education Program (New York, NY); Susan Wirth, Outreach Director, Nature Explore (Nebraska City, NE); and Janice Swaisgood, National Coordinator, Nature Clubs for Families, Children and Nature Network (San Diego, CA).

ACTrees Partners for Youth Education:

In 2013 ACTrees established strategic partnerships, programmatic connections, or a Memorandum of Understanding with a network of nonprofit partners.  To help  foster youth environmental education and tree stewardship, we’ve developed collaborative relationships with the following:

Boys & Girls Clubs of America, whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those most in need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Children & Nature Network , which is leading a movement to connect all children, their families and communities to nature through innovative ideas, evidence-based resources and tools, broad-based collaboration and support of grassroots leadership.

Treetures® Environmental Education Program, a national environmental initiative dedicated to tree education. With their partners, Treetures® promotes activities and education centered on tree planting and care to children in grades K-5.
