Kids and Community Trees

ACTrees has partnered with Treetures® Environmental Education Program, a national environmental initiative dedicated to tree education. With their partners, Treetures® promotes activities and education centered on tree planting and care to children in grades K-5.

Treetures® Resources:

As a partner, ACTrees member organizations have access to a broad range of online resources for educators, community leaders, and local urban forestry programs. Get lesson plans, activities, games, quizzes, and more to engage youth in learning about the value of healthy urban forests. Plus, costumes for local activities.

What are “Treetures®”?

“Treetures®” are a community of characters dedicated to carrying the message of tree planting and care to children. "Steward" is the mascot and carries the flag for urban forests. He teaches about protecting the trees that grow on streets in towns and cities. Every tree that grows on a street needs a “Steward” to keep it strong and healthy. Download a Steward coloring page to use in your classroom or community activity.

ACTrees works with Treetures® to:

  • Promote volunteerism and increase public awareness of the value of engaging youth in urban and community forestry.
  • Support engagement and collaboration among diverse urban forest constituents.
  • Attract diverse age audiences and youth to plant and maintain community trees.

To see ACTrees list of children's books, go to our Tree Library. And for tree activities at home or in the classroom, download ACTrees Tree Fun for Kids activity cards.  Just print them out and cut them in quarters for 4 fun cards for kids (and parents)!
