Mission
Mission
The Alliance for Community Trees (ACT) is dedicated to improving the environment where 80% of Americans live- cities, towns and metropolitan areas. Together, local ACT member organizations have planted 15 million trees with help from 10.7 million volunteer hours nationwide.
Mission Statement
To support grassroots, citizen-based nonprofit organizations dedicated to urban and community tree planting, care, conservation, and education.
History
The Alliance for Community Trees was incorporated in 1993 as a problem-solving center for leaders of community-based urban forestry groups. Its founders shared a vision of healthy, functioning urban ecosystems nurtured by a broad base of community stewards.
Today, ACT is a growing coalition of nearly 200 organizations involved in grassroots community greening, public education, policymaking, and other activities supporting better urban forest stewardship.
Strategic Plan
Through information sharing, training, technical assistance, policy and program development, and advocacy, ACT pulls together the pioneering work of citizen foresters across the country to improve the quality of life for us all.
