Executive Transition- The Art of Hiring Leaders

With everything else going on, who has time to plan for an executive transition? According to three major nonprofit leadership studies, the war for talent is on. Nonprofits spend millions of dollars each year on executive search firms and talent scouts looking for new leadership. With more than 65% of nonprofit leaders saying they intend to leave their jobs between 2005 to 2010 and fewer entrants.

The Organizational Development Initiative of LISC presents: Executive Transition- The Art of Hiring Leaders. In her new book The Art of Hiring Leaders, Barbara Gilvar walks the reader through a step-by-step guide for how to plan for and artfully manage your executive transition. This session will discuss these steps and also hear from on-the-ground experts, Executive Director Nanci Self and former Board Chair Jo Dangel who will offer their own wisdom and insight on their successes and lessons-learned following their own organizational executive transition.

Our Experts:
* Barbara Gilvar has more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit consulting and executive transition. She is the author of two books, The Art of Hiring Leaders: A Guide for Nonprofit Organizations and The Search Handbook. See highlights at the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
* Nanci Self has served as Executive Director of Nazareth Housing Development Corporation in Akron, Ohio, for almost two years.
* Jo Dangel is the immediate past Board Chair for Nazareth Housing Development Corporation in Akron, Ohio. She was a key leader in helping the CDC transition to the new executive director.
