Charitable Foundation 2010 Housing for Everyone Grant Competition

Deadline: September 3, 2010.

The TD Charitable Foundation's 2010 Housing for Everyone grant competition focuses on capital improvements for affordable housing. Safe and affordable housing remains a critical concern for low- and moderate-income families in the current economy. While the spotlight has been largely on the mortgage crisis and rising foreclosure rates over the last several years, preserving America's aging housing stock is critically important. This competition will fund the most innovative plans that preserve and improve affordable housing units. As capital improvements are made to available housing, the integrity of the neighborhood is stabilized and protected from further deterioration.

Patagonia Environmental Grants

Patagonia funds only environmental work. We are most interested in making grants to organizations that identify and work on the root causes of problems and that approach issues with a commitment to long-term change. Because we believe that true change will occur only through a strong grassroots movement, our funding focuses on organizations that build a strong base of citizen support.

Fruit Tree 101

So you want to save the planet and get free fresh fruit for your good efforts?
As featured on The Today Show, "Fruit Tree 101" is a program of The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation that brings fruit tree orchards to schoolyards so students can improve the quality of the air and water while creating a source of tasty snacks for decades to come. Not only do our schoolyard fruit orchards help the environment, but they give your teacher an excuse to hold class outside when it's time for science lessons!

Disney Friends for Change Grants

The Walt Disney Company and Youth Service America are inviting applications for this year's second round of Disney Friends for Change Grants, which fund youth-led fall service projects that focus on making environmentally friendly changes and engaging youth between the ages of 5 and 18 as leaders in their community. The goal of the grant program is to inspire children to join their friends and families, schools, and communities to address critical environmental needs as "friends for change" at the local, national, and/or global levels.

Do Something Change for the Children Grants

DoSomething.org has teamed up with the Jonas Brothers Change for the Children Foundation to award project grants to individuals (age 25 or younger) who are taking action in their communities across the United States and Canada.

City Teams Partnerships Program

Deadline: June 18, 2010 (extended!)

ACT, in cooperation with Arbor Day, SMA, and UAA are pleased to announce the creation of the City Teams partnerships program. The goal of the city teams program is to encourage the development of sustainable community partnerships and to strengthen existing collaboration within urban forestry programs around the country.

Ameriprise Financial Community Relations Grants Program

Deadline: September 1, 2010

Ameriprise Financial, Inc., a diversified financial services company, is accepting grant applications for the third cycle of its 2010 Community Relations grantmaking program. Ameriprise recently completed the first of its three funding cycles for 2010, awarding more than $1.1 million in total grants to 72 nonprofit organizations under the company's three funding areas - meeting basic needs, supporting community vitality, and volunteer-driven causes. Second-cycle grant decisions will be announced in August.

Tom's of Maine 50 States for Good

With a total community action fund of $100,000, Tom's of Maine's "50 States for Good" initiative is celebrating and rewarding nonprofits from across the country whose efforts are focused on lasting, positive change in the community.

Funds for Partnerships Addressing National Forest Issues

Deadline: July 9, 2010

The Foundation's Community Assistance Program promotes the creation of locally-based forest partnerships seeking to resolve natural resource issues through a collaborative, dialogue-based process. The program provides start-up grants in the $5,000 to $15,000 range to organizations that intend to proactively engage local stakeholders in the community in forest management and conservation issues on and around National Forests and Grasslands.

Irving Community Fuel Grant

The Irving Community Fuel Grant Program is a corporate giving program that supports projects in education, environment, and community need within New England and Eastern and Atlantic Canada.

2011 Nonprofit Collaboration Prize

Deadline: July 16, 2010

The Collaboration Prize is a national award presented to nonprofit organizations that collaborate effectively to gain greater impact. The prize is designed to identify and showcase models of collaboration among nonprofit organizations.

NFWF Native Plant Conservation Initiative Grants

Deadline: July 1, 2010

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is soliciting proposals for the Native Plant Conservation Initiative (NPCI) grants cycle. The NPCI grant program is conducted in cooperation with the Plant Conservation Alliance, a partnership between the foundation, ten federal agencies, and more than 270 non-governmental organizations.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program

Deadline: June 25, 2010

The EECBG Program provides Federal grants to States, units of local government, Indian Tribes, and consortia of these entities to reduce energy use and fossil fuel emissions, and for energy efficiency programs and projects.

Invasive Plan Species Control Grants

Deadline: June 30, 2010

Administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Pulling Together Initiative seeks proposals designed to help control invasive plant species, mostly through the work of public/private partnerships such as Cooperative Weed Management Areas.

Third Sector New England Capacity Building Grants

Deadline: June 24, 2010

Third Sector New England has announced the availability of another round of grants for the2010 Capacity Building Fund. The Capacity Building Fund provides funding, technical assistance, and peer-to-peer support to networks of five or more groups to help them learn effective ways to collaborate around a common cause for community impact. The fund's geographic focus is Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Save the Redwoods League Offers Education Grants

The Save the Redwoods League's Education Grants Program is designed to foster a deeper understanding of redwood forests through personal visits and educational experiences among a broad, diverse audience.

Kodak American Greenways Program

Deadline: June 15, 2010

Eastman Kodak Company, the Conservation Fund, and the National Geographic Society invite organizations working to create or improve a greenway, trail, or waterway to apply for a Kodak American Greenways Award grant. The program invites land trusts, local governments, and other organizations to submit proposals for small greenway project grants.

Virginia Environmental Endowment

The mission of the Virginia Environmental Endowment is to improve the quality of the environment by using its capital to encourage all sectors to work together to prevent pollution, conserve natural resources, and promote environmental literacy.

EPA Funding for Urban and Community Watershed Project

Deadline: May 19, 2010

The EPA is awarding up to $600,000 in funding to an entity to manage an Urban Watershed Capability Building Grant through the Targeted Watershed Grants Program. This grant is focused on engaging communities in capacity building activities that will foster an increased connection, understanding and ownership of their waters. Through this program, EPA hopes to encourage local communities and watershed organizations to integrate watershed plans into community development long-range plans.
