Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to Donate $100 Million

Deadline: TBA

The New York-based Doris Duke Charitable Foundation has announced it will set up a $100 million Climate Change Initiative to pay for five years of research into global warming. The Initiative will award monies to nonprofit groups, research institutions and universities to study the best policies and technologies that will help build a "clean-energy economy."

Andrew Bowman, who will direct the fund, said, "The foundation's goal is to keep us from losing the game in the first quarter so that we will still be in a position to win the fourth quarter."
