Trees for Healthy Homes Award

Trees for Healthy Homes is a national honor given by the Alliance for Community Trees (ACT). The award recognizes cities and counties for improving the environmental health and livability of affordable housing through investments in trees and community forest stewardship. $38 Million for Water and Sewage Projects in New York

On April 13, 2009, Governor David A. Paterson called for projects to be submitted for a new grant program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and designed to promote water conservation, energy efficiency, green infrastructure and other green innovation projects. The new Green Innovation Grant Program will provide at least $38 million for local projects. There may be opportunities for communities and urban forestry groups to tap into these Stimulus funds coming from EPA through the State Environmental Facilities Corporation to support local green infrastructure projects that involve urban forestry, trees, and green space.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company Offers Grants to Public Schools in Northern and Central California
Deadline: April 30, 2006
Teachers and administrators from eligible schools within PG&E's service area in northern and central California may apply for grants to support:
1) Installation of a $20,000 solar photovoltaic system for the school's educational use.
2) Solar-based curriculum training package.
3) "Bright Ideas" grants. PG&E will award up to $200,000 in amounts of $2,500 and $5,000 to schools for innovative solar science projects.

Foster's Announces New Community Grants Program
Deadline: April 28, 2006
Foster's (www.fosters.com.au), a beverage company based in Melbourne, Australia, has announced a new initiative of the Foster's in the Community Program.
Foster's supports "wellness" as both physical and mental health; "culture" as artistic, sporting, and educational activities; and "environment" as all aspects of the natural environment. The program is designed to complement the grassroots, local nature of the other elements of Fosters' community engagement activity.
Foster's Community Grants will conduct two funding rounds per year. In 2006 these will be as follows:
Round 1 -- March 1 to April 28, 2006;
Round 2 -- August 1 to September 29, 2006.
Conservation Fund Accepting Nominations for International Paper Environmental Awards

The $10,000 awards are provided by the International Paper Company Foundation.
The International Paper Conservation Partnership Award recognizes an individual who has achieved significant results in the protection of habitat through a cooperative relationship with a business or corporation.
The International Paper Environmental Education Award honors educators who have shown special skills in giving their students a better understanding of the complex relationship between environmental protection and economic growth.
