Deadline: October 24, 2008

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Education announced it is accepting proposals for its Global Climate Change Education project. The program is designed to improve global climate change and Earth system science education at the elementary, secondary and undergraduate levels.

NASA will fund opportunities in three areas:

1. K-12 Competitive Opportunity Grants target secondary school level teaching and learning. The goal is to find and support new, and innovative ways to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning and instruction.

2. Global Climate Change Education Opportunity Grants improve the quality of global climate change, and Earth system science education at the elementary, secondary, and undergraduate levels.

3. Available funds for science museums, science-technology centers, and planetariums to further programs related to space exploration, aeronautics, space science, Earth science or microgravity.

Proposals will be accepted from educational institutions or other nonprofit organizations. NASA Centers, Federal Agencies, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, education-related companies and other institutions may apply through partnership with the lead organization. By funding schools, NASA hopes to better student experiences as well as help instructors to boost their ability to engage and stimulate their students.
