Chicago Gateway Green seeks an outstanding and motivated Business Development Manager. The right person will have all of the necessary abilities to be able to grow and nurture relationships with our partners and have a proven track record of success in new business development, client management, as well as be aligned with the organization's mission.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager is responsible for all aspects of Chicago Gateway Green's external relationship with our partners. This includes securing new corporate partners for our Expressway Partnership and Tree Partnership programs, and as importantly, maintaining existing partnerships by continuously demonstrating and delivering value. Working in conjunction with the Executive Director, the Business Development Manager will also be expected to develop and execute alternative funding strategies, including grant funding and our individual-giving programs.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the organization's corporate partnership programs including prospecting, new business and partner stewardship, and fulfillment. Principal responsibilities are:
* Prospecting and New Partnership Development: including researching and identifying prospects, preparing proposals, all forms of communications with prospective partners, preparing contracts, and reporting.
* Current Partner Retention and Fulfillment: including preparation of all partnership documentation, fostering strong working relationships with current partners, delivering on contract requirements and overall value, identifying opportunities for broadening existing partnerships, and reporting.
* Event Sponsorship: including working with the Executive Director and Associate Board to secure sponsorship for major events, and assisting with creating sponsorship strategies and event sponsorship packages. Some marketing and public relations support will be required.
Other duties as assigned. As with all Chicago Gateway Green staff, the Business Development Manager will be expected to support the organization's general operations and provide assistance with projects that contribute to the future of the organization.

REPORTING
The Business Development Manager reports to the Executive Director and will likely have some supervisory responsibilities with respect to Chicago Gateway Green interns and volunteers.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
* At least 8 years of professional experience.
* Bachelor's degree.
* Proven track record in sponsorship, sales and/or partnership development.
* Results-oriented, motivated individual.
* Excellent communication, relationship-building and networking skills.
* Attention to detail. Highly organized. Proven project management skills.
* Ability to prioritize, multi-task and problem solve.
* Effective negotiation skills and entrepreneurial spirit.
* Strong technology and record keeping skills: including Excel, Access and contract management systems.
* Strong corporate networks in Chicago.
* Ability to think innovatively and contribute ideas to enhancing the organization's strategies.
* Experience with forecasting, financial management and contract management.
* Passion for Chicago and greening initiatives.
* Flexibility: the occasional evening and weekend day will be required for networking events and programs.
