Director of Development, Pacific Biodiversity Institute (Winthrop, Washington)

Pacific Biodiversity Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to conducting scientific research to enhance biodiversity conservation and natural resource planning and management decisions. Reporting to PBI's Executive Director, the Director of Development will be responsible for leading the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the organization's fundraising.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design and manage PBI's overall fundraising strategy, plan, calendar, and budget
* Expand and manage the major individual-giving program, including the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects, and maintain a portfolio of individual major gifts prospects and donors
* Lead the organization, staging and implementation of public events focused on our major initiatives
* Research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward foundation donors
* Assist other staff in cultivating contacts with governmental agencies, NGO's and other entities that may lead to service contracts. Assist with responding to RFPs, proposals and negotiations that will lead to securing such contracts
* Oversee the donor database system and the creation and production of all communications materials, including newsletters and marketing materials
QUALIFICATIONS
* Substantial fundraising experience, with demonstrated success in the areas of individual giving; event planning and implementation, and development of innovative fundraising strategies
* Demonstrated ability to build, expand, and manage a development program responsible for at least $500,000 annually
* Experience managing and motivating boards and volunteers for fundraising initiatives
* Strong financial skills, including the ability to develop management reports that present a clear financial picture of fundraising activities
* Dedication to conservation and strong interest in and knowledge about biodiversity conservation
