GIS Coordinator, Trees Forever (Marion, IA)

Trees Forever is hiring for three full-time positions. The successful candidate will be able to fulfill two of the four roles- Field Coordinator, GIS Coordinator, Landscape Architect, and Program Manager- for a full time position and live in one of the following geographic areas: Cedar Rapids/Marion (headquarters office), Quad Cities, Muscatine, Clinton, or Ames, Des Moines.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS COORDINATOR
Roles and Responsibilities
* Provide leadership in the use of GIS to enhance current programs and new initiatives.
* Work with partners and coordinate volunteers to conduct urban tree inventories using US Forest Service's i-Tree software suite.
* Provide technical guidance and training in the use and incorporation of GPS and GIS into existing and new Trees Forever programs.
* Perform GIS functions including research and spatial analysis using mapped and tabular information to support activities to protect, enhance, and restore natural resources. This includes being able to manipulate and edit in ArcGIS and assist with field data collection and to provide assistance and guidance to create original mapping and report preparation.
* Maintain inventory of GIS data, mining new datasets, and revising existing ones.
Technical and Knowledge areas:
* Experience with and knowledge of principles, practices, and applications of GIS as it relates to natural resource management.
* Experience with ESRI ArcGIS (ability to manipulate and edit, create maps and graphics).
* Knowledge of USDA Forest Service i-Tree software, and/or experience in conducting tree inventories.
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelors degree with considerable experience or background in water quality issues, urban forestry, private lands conservation, landscape design, community planning, prairie restoration, or landscape ecology.
* Certificate or considerable college coursework in Geographic Information Systems.
Salary and Benefits
* Salary: FULL TIME only: $34,000 - 45,000 depending upon combination of positions, skills, and experience.
