The National Parks Service seeks a Horticulturist at the Hampton National Historic Site and Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Site. The position will serve as a specialist in the principles and practices of landscape management with advanced training in the science, theories, concepts, methods and techniques of horticulture and related fields. The Horticulturist will be responsible for program development and implementation to protect and preserve the physical characteristics, biotic systems, historic and contemporary use of the park's landscape.
This position is PART-TIME (24 hrs per week) and is located at the Hampton National Historic Site in Towson, MD and Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Site in Baltimore, MD. This position requires work outdoors in extreme heat and cold. Work hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 7:30am to 4:00pm.

DUTIES
* Serves as Horticulturist for Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine and Hampton National Historic Site responsible for identification, research, planning, treatment, preservation and maintenance of 100 acres.
* Develops and recommends to the Chief of Resource Management long-range maintenance programs.
* Directs an intricate program of natural and cultural resource management activities.
* Prepares specific action plans needed to manage the flora and fauna of the landscapes.
* Responsible for preserving historically and/or botanically significant plants through field conservation and propagation.
* Documents all landscape treatment activities for the historic record.
* Serves as integrated pest management coordinator for the parks.
Salary Range: $51,630.00 - $81,204.00 /year
