Part-time/seasonal Community Forester, TreesGreenville (Greenville, SC)

Background
Position: Part-time/seasonal Community Forester (20-25 hours/week)
Salary: Commensurate with experience, starting at $17.00/hour (up to $20/hour)

TreesGreenville is a nonprofit 501c3 founded in 2005. Our mission is to plant, promote, and protect trees in Greenville County. We also educate the public about the benefits of trees. We carry out our mission through four distinct planting programs. This is a grant funded position. TreesGreenville has secured funding from the South Carolina Forestry Commission to hire a part-time/seasonal Community Forester for this coming planting season, October 2009-March 2010. In September 2010, this will become a permanent part-time position through other funding.

Job Description
The Community Forester will:
* Direct and manage TreesGreenville╒s four planting programs.
* Develop & deliver tailored presentations to NeighborWoods communities, project and team leaders, volunteers, as well as garden clubs, schools, individuals, and other groups & organizations.
* Develop programs for the Legacy Tree Project that educate the public about the benefits of trees and conduct industry best practices workshops.
* Develop education & outreach materials to support our planting programs and promote best industry practices. These include and are not limited to: power points, outdoor presentations, and handouts.
* Promote industry best practices and increase the visibility and impact TreesGreenville has in our community by providing outreach and technical support to relevant businesses, groups, and organizations.
* Connect TreesGreenville to the community by increasing our organization╒s capacity to serve the community through planting projects, education, and outreach.

Requirements
Must be a certified arborist, with a 4-year degree in forestry or related field preferred, and experience and/or high level of comfort teaching/public speaking.

Timeline
