Senior Director of Sustainability, Casey Trees (Washington, DC)

Casey Trees, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring, enhancing and protecting the tree canopy of Washington, D.C., seeks a Senior Director for Sustainability (SDS). The SDS leads and oversees a small staff responsible for Casey Trees' research, fee-for-service, information gathering/monitoring and IT functions.
The ideal candidate is dedicated to Casey Trees' mission, has a broad range of skills in arboriculture/GIS/landscape architecture and related fields, is an excellent communicator, highly motivated and enjoys working with a diverse staff and a broad array of external partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Oversees the on-time delivery of Casey Trees' Tree Report Card; iTree Eco assessment and; Casey Trees' canopy analysis/assessment.
* Leads & develops Casey Trees' research and fee-for-service activities.
* Provides organization-wide technical assistance in urban forestry, arboriculture, research, others.
* Guides & inspires a highly skilled team and ensures completion of annual work plans and targets.
* Ensures departmental operations are carried out in an efficient and effective manner.
Connects people to trees.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Undergraduate degree required; MBA or other advanced degree desired.
* ISA Arborist Certification required; Board Certified Master Arborist a plus.
* Knowledge of DC, MD and VA and environmental groups at federal, state and local levels.
* Prior experience managing a small group of professionals.
* Demonstrated success collaborating and working with internal and external partners.
* Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency with MS office suite; familiarity with GIS software, iTree; ability to learn others as required.
* Experience/knowledge working within a non-profit environment.
POSITION DURATION AND COMPENSATION
This position is full-time and starts August 1. Starting salary is $70 - 80K commensurate with experience, benefits are included.
