Urban Outreach/Education Manager, The Nature Conservancy (New York, NY)

The Nature Conservancy's Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future (LEAF) Program is a partnership between the world's largest conservation organization and environmentally themed high schools. The LEAF Urban Outreach/Education Manager will position the LEAF Program as the national leader in supporting teachers of the LEAF Educator Network by coordinating activities that will enhance the value of the network. The long term goal of LEAF is to support more than 30 environmental high schools across the country, ultimately serving over 20,000 students. LEAF's network of urban environmental high schools is designed for teachers to exchange best practices and promote environmental professions among high school students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage all aspects of the LEAF Educator Network - serve as the primary liaison between The Conservancy and principals and educators from existing and new environmental high school partners, recruit new partner environmental high schools to participate.
* Establish online communications platform for teachers within the LEAF Educator Network
* Organize all content and logistics for in person and virtual meetings and professional development events for teachers in the LEAF network
* Organize all content and logistics for annual Green College and Careers fair for up to 200 students, teachers and exhibitors
* Identify experts and resource persons to lead professional development activities appropriate for LEAF teachers
* Compile brief reports of professional development activities that include number of participants, topics covered and teacher evaluations
* Lead a peer-review process of lesson ideas from participating educators and create an anthology of selected lesson ideas, best practices, and/or curriculum focused on high school urban environmental education
* Promote and coordinate travel awards for teachers from partner schools to attend annual retreats and quarterly meetings
* Update project operations plan and ensure that all project personnel and partners are informed of activity deadlines
* Track program expenses to stay within budget.
* Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Education and at least 3 years related teaching and curriculum writing experience in urban education.
* Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word, and Excel. May require database management skills with ability to produce reports. Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet. Ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
* Experience organizing and coordinating professional development trainings and conferences for high school educators.
* Experience editing, proofreading, and/or with oral, verbal and written communications.
