Deadline: September 3, 2009
PG&E and the ClimateSmart program are excited to announce the fifth Request for Proposals (RFP) for ClimateSmart Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Projects. PG&E seeks proposals from projects for new systems or activities which reduce, avoid, or sequester greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to apply towards their commitment to be in contract for at least 1,500,000 tons of GHG emission reductions.
Eligible Projects must:
* Be located and performed in California
* Be initiated after the issuance of this RFP
* Meet the stringent requirements of the project protocols developed by the Climate Action Reserve (the "CAR"). These are the Forest, Livestock, Landfill, Urban Forest, and Organic Waste Digestion Reporting Protocols
Bidding Session:
There will be a Bidder's Information Session on Thursday, September 3, at 9am in San Francisco, 245 Market Street, Conference Room 1417. Potential bidders can also participate by telephone by calling 866-339-1399 and entering passcode *4159732880*. Potential bidders may sign up on a first-come, first serve basis for 30-minute interview slots immediately following the information session, or thereafter as requested (in person or by telephone). The interviews will provide an opportunity for potential bidders to discuss their projects with PG&E, and for both PG&E and potential bidders to ask clarifying questions. Potential bidders who participate in interviews and whose projects meet the requirements of this RFP will be invited to bid. If a bidder chooses not to interview but submits a Notice of Intent to Bid form, PG&E will upon receiving the Notice of Intent to Bid contact the bidder to determine whether the project is likely to meet the requirements of this RFP. If so, the bidder will also be invited to bid. For those parties that have been invited to bid, PG&E will hold a Bidder's Workshop on Friday, September 18, at 9am. At the bidder's workshop PG&E will walk through this RFP's Questionnaire and discuss the attributes of a successful bid. Proposals will be due by 2:00 p.m. (Pacific) on October 8, 2009.
Background on ClimateSmart
PG&E's ClimateSmart program is the first-of-its-kind in the nation. Authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the ClimateSmart program allows PG&E customers who voluntarily enroll the option to pay a separate amount each month to make their personal or business energy use carbon neutral. On behalf of enrolled ClimateSmart customers, PG&E's ClimateSmart program will purchase greenhouse gas emission reductions equivalent to the amount needed in order to meet our commitments in the ClimateSmart program, which include offsetting our customers' home or business gas and/or electricity use.
