Trees Forever, an environmental non-profit, is seeking a relationship-oriented, outcome-focused, positive communicator with experience in fund development and marketing. The Development and Marketing Director is a key member of the Trees Forever Staff Team. This individual will also work closely with the President & CEO, other members of the leadership team, members of the board of directors, and foundation trustees.
ROLES & RESPONSIBLITIES
Fund Development:
* Lead the development of an annual fund development/marketing program, for all elements of development, including board campaign, donor cultivation, planned giving and integration of membership and special direct mail campaigns.
* Support implementation of all aspects of donor cultivation, including activities involving board, staff and key volunteers.
* Work with staff and board to ensure all fund-raising and development efforts are consistent with the Trees Forever brand and marketing efforts;
* Provide oversight and ensure all major donor records and files are up-to-date, well maintained in the data-base with hard copy system for annual and long term development activities;
* Position development efforts with target audiences.
Marketing and Community Relations:
* Develop positive community and media relationships in targeted markets;
* Work with program managers to ensure program communications and marketing efforts are integrated and consistent with the Trees Forever messaging, identity and branding;
* Plan all communications platforms annually with communications work group;
* Responsible for appropriate messaging in all publications, website and program materials;
* Develop and implement training for staff, board and key volunteers on messaging, identity and media relations;
* Provide support with record keeping for Marketing and Fund Development meetings;
* Direct Trees Forever events, particularly as they serve and recognize donors, sponsors, and volunteers;
* Lead the volunteer recruitment and recognition efforts;
* Assist with corporate sponsor relationships;
* Assist in the development and implementation of advocacy efforts to include staff, board, and volunteers on a local, state and national level.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelors degree with considerable experience or background in Fundraising and/or contact management databases, Development and fundraising, or Community relations
* Must possess a commitment to: working for a non-profit organization, engaging others in environmental stewardship, working on a team- willing to take the lead as well as support others.
* Must possess the following skills: Technological skills including Microsoft Office and other contact management and database systems; Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in writing general correspondence and other documents required as part of duties listed above; Interpersonal skills necessary to build effective relationships with donors, sponsors, board members, staff and partners; Strong leadership traits, such as ability to give/receive constructive feedback, critical thinking skills, and confidence in taking initiative.
* Residence in Linn County preferable or within 30 miles of Cedar Rapids/Marion.
* Must maintain reliable transportation and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight trips and some evening and weekend meetings.
