The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is seeking a dynamic, creative, highly motivated intern to build NEEF's capacity to work with the formal school sector nationwide and help us launch a major initiative to infuse environmental education into high school curricula. The intern will be expected to work 30-40 hours per week. This position requires a commitment through August 2008.
The intern would focus on three areas of this initiative:
* A teacher website for resources and grants to support teachers incorporating environmental themes;
* A student website and program to be launched in Fall 2008;
* Providing support for taking and teaching the AP Environmental Science Exam.
Responsibilities:
The Education Program Intern will assist the Senior Director of Education to promote and implement this new initiative. Projects will include:
* Collecting exemplary environmental education high school curricula, tips, and resources for dissemination on a teacher website,
* Building a distribution list of partners and agencies to distribute an announcement for a national grants program for teachers, and
* Updating a website for teachers;
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should:
* Have a background in environmental science/education or a related field;
* Possess excellent research and written and verbal communication skills;
* Exhibit a basic understanding of website editing, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook programs;
* Enjoy working both independently and in collaboration with our small NEEF team;
* Have a positive attitude and a desire to promote environmental literacy in 9th -12th grade classrooms throughout the country.
Compensation:
$10.00 per hour.
