NeighborWoods Investments 2007

Deadline: August 20, 2007

In partnership with The Home Depot Foundation, the Alliance for Community Trees is pleased to announce the availability of funds to support NeighborWoods investments in your community. NeighborWoods is a nationwide initiative that engages the public in meaningful hands-on action to produce tangible improvements to community health through tree planting and stewardship.

NeighborWoods communicates "neighbors caring for trees," reflecting ACT members' vision for healthy urban forests that nurture and sustain communities. Through grants, ACT and The Home Depot Foundation provide an incentive to communities to use successful NeighborWoods models. Through online publications, training, and a national network of NeighborWoods organizers, we encourage the creation of well-managed, thoughtful programs that fulfill ACT and The Home Depot Foundation's vision for volunteer-driven urban forest restoration.

The 2007 NeighborWoods investments will recognize local urban forestry partnerships that contribute to community development in underserved or at-risk neighborhoods. Programs that add value to community projects supported by The Home Depot or The Home Depot Foundation will be given special consideration.

In addition, applicants are encouraged to incorporate activities into their plan of work to include volunteer, educational, or outreach events in celebration of October 2007 National NeighborWoods Month. The Alliance for Community Trees provides a wide array of support materials and a planning tool kit online to help you bring visibility and attention to urban forest restoration during NeighborWoods Month.
